Once upon a time, there was a small boy named Ayan. Ayan was in class 9. He was an intelligent boy; he was the topper of his class. He had an excellent personality; he was not only good at studies, but he was also a master of extracurricular activities.
Ayan loved cricket, he played for his school in an inter-school competition, and he won when he was the captain of the team. Ayan was good at music too, he loved playing guitar and he used to write his songs and sing them as well in the music competitions.
Ayan was an all-rounder; he was from a middle-class family and had big hopes and dreams in his eyes. He had a dream of becoming a part of the Indian cricket team. Despite being an active member in the extracurricular activities, he never got distracted.
He was always focused as well. His father Imran was a government employee, he wanted his son to become the best in the whole world. He wanted his son to become a doctor. He had already started saving money, to send him to Russia to study medicine there.
Ayan used to always tell him that he liked to play and that he wanted to play on his own, but Imran had his hopes and expectations. There was always a big tussle among them regarding Ayan’s future.
One day, Ayan failed his science mid-semester exam, he didn’t study for that exam as he was busy playing for the upcoming cricket tournament. He was scared, he knew that if his father got to know about this, then he would stop him from going to the tournament.
He was terrified, he didn’t want his dream to get shattered in a single moment. As he got failed the teacher told him to get the marksheet signed by his parents. He apologized to the teacher, told her that he would score better from now on, and asked her if he could skip telling his parents about the marks.
The teacher was very strict, she immediately told Ayan that this could not happen during her subject. She warned him that if he did not bring the marksheet signed tomorrow she would call his parents to come to the school.
The next day, he handed over the mark sheet to the teacher, the teacher saw it, it had the sign of both his father and his mother. She was shocked, she suspected, she asked him if he made them sign his mark sheet or not.
She immediately recognized that they were a sign of an immature, she was furious she called his parents to the school the same day. Ayan begged in front of her, but she didn’t listen.
Ayan’s father came to the school, he was angry with him. He scolded him in front of the whole class. The moment he saw tears of helplessness in Ayan’s eyes, he was sad. He immediately hugged Ayan and understood his side of the story too. He realized that he was wrong. He started pressuring Ayan to only focus on studying. He apologized to Ayan and told him that he could follow any dream he wanted, he just told him to study side by side following his dream. He started teaching Ayan for all the exams and he started to score well in all the exams.
Moral of the story: Dreams are meant to be followed and respected but not at the cost of your mental health.
